It is, most people would probably not think to mash up cars with fighter games in an AMV.
-
@Lahdehdah i mean the concept (for me personally) and idea behind the video is a lot more original than running man.
-
It's not like, original-original. I think Midnight Carnival's style is very similar to many MADs of games/visual novels, where their source of footage is mostly still images. So it really depends on what you define as original.

Your reasoning to like Running Man sounds like moe-blob except it's nostalgia-blob. You're attracted to something because you recognize and remember footage, and the more you do, the more you like the video? With only that to a person who has to look at it objectively, like they don't know the footage or characters, then it'd be like just a pile of strung-up poo. I'm not saying you're wrong for liking Running Man or it's bad, I just think you should choose a more meaningful reason.
-
I think that somebody like you would agree with me if I said something like "AMVs are supposed to be more about meaning than flashy videos and fancy effects."
But that's actually describing Running Man. Even according to Nostromo, it was just a bunch of leftovers from his Auriga strung together with absolutely no meaning whatsoever intended. If you want pure visual, you just named it. Personally, in my mind, not having meaning disqualifies it.

i love both running man and midnight carnival. but the style of editing and type of song choice are so contrasting that i dont really think it is appropriate to compare them as being done. i think perhaps the reason midnight carnival got the edge on running man was that it is a lot different than any other video before that (i might be wrong) and nostromo does do a lot of the same types of video (i still love his videos though lol) and so probably for originality midnight carnival won.

@his1nightmare Furthermore, Running Man had a lot more variety in it. This one was just like "oh, hey, Need For Speed, cool, whatever..." but Running Man had a large variety of great anime featured in it. It was more entertaining, more exciting, and evoked a feeling of nostalgia seeing all those DIFFERENT things in there that I used to watch, all working together to make it a better video, rather than just one game or something.
-
@his1nightmare a lot of the stuff in Running Man was cut, but it looked like there was some OC in there as well. Also, syncing even a cut video is a lot harder than timing a slideshow; and while it looks like there was probably more editing done in this video than Running Man, that just means that it probably took longer to make, not that it was harder to do or better. "Attack of the Clones" had a shit ton of special effects and editing and what not, but that sure as hell didn't make it good.

people should just shut the fuck up if they never made a composition in after effects in their life, "just pictures"? are you fucking kidding me? it takes a lot of experience and a lot of time tweaking the compositions until they look like 0:53 , and then integrating the comps with actual footage, and maintaining the flow... seriously if you can`t comprehend what you`re actually watching, don`t bother leaving your "opinion" on the video (i`m such a fanboy though)
