well this is weird, I've been playing for a couple of years now and I've been fairly concious about developing a good picking technique, yet somehow I never noticed that I've been doing something this basic...

@RagnaLoki I can't even tilt forward, cause I got used to holding the pick a bit differently. Anyways, when you play standing and you tilt it backwards in might look a bit akward, but then again, it more or less depends on the anatomy of you thumb, I figured. Either way, whatever works for you, gotta try it out.

@RagnaLoki Yeah but then you'd look like Marty Friedman. hehe.. anyhow I'd tilt forward just so when you stand and play it's not awkward.

I anchor my ring and pinky on the face of the guitar. ive been playing for 5 years like that and my problem is i cant change strings very clean and fast. is this bad technique?

@pcnation11 If it's hindering your progress then yes. Some people have a ton of bad habits but manage to work through them over time. I sometimes anchor, sometimes not. If I were you I'd look to free up the right hand more by not anchoring.
