  • As a trumpeter, myself, I understand and respect your views. And, while I would never be so presumptuous as to speak for Phil, perhaps he's making a statement about the glory of the "Biblical" trumpet, here. Sounds that most mortals can't believe will be heard when the roll is called. And, Phil seems to be reaching for something otherworldly with his interpretation, here. Any trumpeter could play this tune. But only he can drape it with his own gifts of power, interpretation and love.

  • RESPEKT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Seems Phil in more recent years has back WAY off on the vocal stylings he used here. A little over the top, a la Joe C and such. At times it was REALLY hard to understand him. And the reverb was used heavily in the mid 80s.

  • Coulds I get a little echo with that delay?

  • Phil did a wonderful job with this tune. I didn't particularly like the echo effect through the mic. As a Christian trumpet player, it's encouraging to see others in your field.

  • I really love how you did the solo you are a great or should i say exellant trumpet player and a son of God KEEP IT UP!!!!!

  • that was absolutely wonderful

  • His voice is amazing? are you serious? Joe Cocker was a majoy hit and Phil is very similar except annointed.PRAISE GOD.

  • Phil is a good player, however, he uses way way way to much reverb, I guess that's the sound he wants but I find it very annoying.

  • He may not be a Ray Charles in singing, but, have you ever paid attention to Louis Armstrong, with his gruff voice? It was accepted graciously and mimicked many a time. As for his trumpet skills, the horn speaks for him.

  • Until you hear his big fat trumpet and mellow flugel horn in a huge auditorium, you really cannot appreciate the majesty he brings. Truly.
