Abecedarians was a fabulous post-punk 80's band known for their moody, expressive music. "Smiling Monarchs" stands out from the remainder of their catalogue because it is upbeat and heavy on keyboards. This is my tribute to them.

  • Wow, Missparker still getting alot of hits! 8700+ more people listening to the ABCD's is a good thing. Such a timeless song.

  • Thanks Mike :-)

  • I still have TWO copies of the original 12" import single. Was a big club hit for me back in Boston...

    SWOON!

  • ps: i like what you've done but you do realize the song isn't about that kind of monarch?...

  • I love this tune!

  • Thanks for posting. It's the first time I heard this song in over 20 years. I remember when this song was a mainstay on CFNY (Toronto) every Saturday night.

  • Visually pleasing fan vid, very nice.

  • A huge favorite of mine. I used to spin in S.F. in '85/'86 and would mix with Cab Volt's Sensoria. Always got a great response to that. Thanx for posting.

  • This has become one of my favorites

  • fabulous - thanks - reminds me of "back in the day" clubbing like mad...

  • Best club song ever... XXXX

  • This is kinda groovy...
