As glorious and elaborate as the Temple was, its most important room contained almost no furniture at all. Known as the Holy of Holies (Kodesh Kodashim), it housed the two tablets of the Ten Commandments. Unfortunately, the tablets disappeared when the Babylonians destroyed the Temple, and during the Second Temple era, the Holy of Holies was a small, entirely bare room. Only once a year, on Yom Kippur, the High Priest would enter this room and pray to God on Israel's behalf. A remarkable monologue by a Hasidic rabbi in the Yiddish play The Dybbuk conveys a sense of what the Jewish throngs worshiping at the Temple must have experienced during this ceremony:
God's world is great and holy. The holiest land in the world is the land of Israel. In the land of Israel the holiest city is Jerusalem. In Jerusalem the holiest place was the Temple, and in the Temple the holiest spot was the Holy of Holies.... There are seventy peoples in the world. The holiest among these is the people of Israel. The holiest of the people of Israel is the tribe of Levi. In the tribe of Levi the holiest are the priests. Among the priests, the holiest was the High Priest.... There are 354 days in the [lunar] year. Among these, the holidays are holy. Higher than these is the holiness of the Sabbath. Among Sabbaths, the holiest is the Day of Atonement, the Sabbath of Sabbaths.... There are seventy languages in the world. The holiest is Hebrew. Holier than all else in this language is the holy Torah, and in the Torah the holiest part is the Ten Commandments. In the Ten Commandments the holiest of all words is the name of God.... And once during the year, at a certain hour, these four supreme sanctities of the world were joined with one another. That was on the Day of Atonement, when the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies and there utter the name of God. And because this hour was beyond measure holy and awesome, it was the time of utmost peril not only for the High Priest but for the whole of Israel.

  • I share the good news of Jesus Christ here on the internet but it doesn't seem to be going well. Its like the whole world right now is being consumed by atheists.

  • jonathanfater only about 2% of the world are actually atheists and even they believe in God they just lie about it. It's just the internet that is consumed with atheists as we know atheists tend to be ugly and so they have no girlfriends, the internet is their girlfriend. So don't worry about the 2% club. They are powerless, mindless and useless to society.

  • If Jesus died for our sins, wouldn't it only work for the people in that time period instead of our time period?

Also im not being a sarcastic ass faced atheist, im actually christian but not very intelligent or smart with it.

  • @shockofgod Once, I visited this website directed specifically for people with autism. I though, by all means, they would most surely believe in God and have more faith than the common scoffer.

But, I'm surprised to learn that autistic people are even colder than atheists without autism. But yes, it seems the atheists are coming from every corner, and some are designing channels specifically for mocking God, Christ, and lying. It's amazing, really. But they'll get theirs. I'm sure of it.

  • @shockofgod I'm not athiest but, that didn't seem like a very Christian thing for youto say...

  • @crazypete3 Jesus' sacrifice was a perfect one as he was sinless. It was once and for all. He took on the sins of everyone. Jesus' blood covers sins you've already committed and sins you will do in the future.

  • Excellent Shock Excellent..

  • Heh, yeah I didn't know that it was legal in Cali.

  • Great tools Shock!

  • Great video shock !!

  • @npeffer

what if that person actually does realize what they have done? they still would have to be in prison for life, right? essentially Jesus died to set us free. we are in "prison for life" untill we open our eyes and realize what we are doing. what are we doing that puts us in "prison" is sinning, things like adultury, cheating, breaking commandments and such would be sin. if you think about it like this God is the judge of our sins, Jesus is the greatest lawyer in town.

  • I don't quite understand Jesus paying for our sins. If a man rapes someone and is sentenced to life in prison, we would never even consider letting someone else volunteer to take the penalty for him. The point is to make the person pay for their crimes and realize what they've done, not to create some "toll" that can just be picked up by anyone else as long as somebody "pays" for it.

I don't see how this this could possibly be considered fair or moral; can someone explain?

  • My mother like to be a motorcyclist (66 years).

  • Dr. Deagle said on his show and to a young person that wanted to learn about Jesus that Jesus was not born of a virgin and there is no hell! I'll never listen to him again. The usurpers are everywhere. Course...he says he's a descendant of moses too and he's got the paperwork to prove it : /

  • Excellent technique. The law shows us that we are sinners and in need of forgiveness. No one is "good" in God's eyes. Jesus didn't make us perfect. He just provided that forgiveness. Now when God looks at us all he sees is his perfect son.

  • Just do it just minister theres no right way just do it

  • Nice brother Shock, I have been fearful of telling people about Christ, and need some guidance. Thank you.

    Amen.
