yes that makes perfect sense. and i guess the pain was more lower mid back at the base of the lats. since i wrote my last comment i have made a full recovery but i am still put on hold for my workouts until wed. due to outside circumstances.thank you for your advice.
p.s. the soreness was equal on both sides. i'm thinking the back pain was probabaly caused from the muscles being stretched during the exercise. what do you think the cause was. since atleast in the mirror i had good form?

dang man, i wish i would have seen this video before wednesday when i did my 1st workout of this test i am doing on my body. since i did 135 lbs straight leg deadlifts, i didn't really feel it at the time but now my legs (hamstrings) are killing me.
is it normal for soreness in the hamstrings and lower back when doing straight leg deadlifts or any other deadlift for that matter???

Great question... wish you would have seen this earlier also, my friend.
Yes, it will definitely cause soreness in those areas. Both BLDL and straight-leg will cause hamstring soreness - I'd be more worried about the low back soreness though - you shouldn't feel too much there, especially if it's one sided (asymmetrical soreness) - that's about the biggest issue people run into. If so, take it easy a few days before lifting heavy again so you don't throw off your SI joint.
Make sense?
