Pope Benedict has said you no longer need the bishop's permission to have the Tridentine mass but a priest is free to do it if he knows how. If he is not allowed, the priest definitely has recourse to the Vatican against the bishop.

Is it reasonable to assume that Pope Benedict XVI is attempting to have such perversion expunged from the Church?

Speaking as a Protestant one must state that for The Catholic Church to acquire any sort of legitimacy that it has previously lost the Church, particularly the Pope, must be willing to cast such spiritual abominations from their midst.

Capone - You are right to criticize Niederauer for not denouncing evil in the house of God. I urge you to remember: there is ALWAYS hope in Christ. No bishop, no amount of sin, even in God's Church, can overcome the might of our Lord. He has already triumphed, so you should never say "there is just no hope."

For perspective: I used to cross-dress, and am well aware of the grave evil of the "queer agenda." I am a witness to God's redeeming grace and the hope which flows from faith.

As someone who lived in the archdiocese of San Francisco, I can say the problem is so entrenched that only a complete changing of the hierarchy will due. When the archbishop gives holy communion to a transvestite wearing clothing that mocks our religious nuns but wont allow a Tridentine mass anywhere in the city, you know there is just no hope. I am happy our blessed Pope Benedict (may God grant him 100 years) is correcting the vast errors of fhis predecessor(s).
