Anthony didn't succeed because of the way his dad brought him up, he succeeded despite the way his dad brought him up. Generally speaking though, a lot of young people who do art for a living - especially back in the 60s to 90s when drugs were more easily available - do have a tendency to be naturally somewhat fucked up.

im a massive fan of chilli peppers his dad was being honest about how he felt that the way he brought him up and his addiction but its made them closer as father and son anyway things happen for a reason we wouldnt have one of the finest front man thats a bonus

I'm very grateful that Anthony has survived his 'using' period. He has given us some very beautiful work. Not everyone has the resources ready available that a successful rock star has when it comes to medical treatment and starting a 'new' life. As a father and someone who has dealt personally with addiction, I would not promote " letting your kid do whatever he wants and turning him 'on' to a unhealthy lifestyle " If Anthony didn't survive, this interview would be singing a different story.
