Woodgas F150: idling 2

Better video than that first one I made. And an improved fuel metering system this time. I still have no exhaust system so its noisy. The two temperatures are blower inlet and rear exhaust manifold (degrees F). That brass valve shuts off gasoline to the fuel pump. Same fuel as in the other videos...wood chips. Hopefully the next video will be a road test. *UPDATE 9/25/09* I've further revised the fuel metering and completed a road test. When I get another camera, I'll post it.

couldn't you condense the gas into methanol and then modify the truck to run on methanol?

@kydenj28 The fuel isn't methanol vapor. Its largely H2, CO, CO2, and other gases that are biproducts of the gasification process. Alcohols are made by a different process entirely.

haha I wish. There isn't enough wood or biomass out there to supply all the motor vehicles on the road. And even if there was, it still wouldn't change our CO2 and NOx problems. I have a large steady supply of wood scrap so wood-powered stuff works out well for me. : )
