if you use it on a mac with time machine you never have to worry about losing files or failing harddrives

Can I right-click the Drobo icon on the PC and turn on sharing to my other PCs can see it?

The usb version is fast enough to stream video over the network.
If you transfer large files you may want the drobo share with gigabit networking.
Its built solid and I love it. Its idiot proof
