At the end of the movie Mr Holland's Opus he is overwhelmed by the hundreds of people whose life he has touched as a music teacher and they all come back to thank him. it's all here - the speech by one of his former pupils who he inspired to continue playing the clarinet earlier in the film and the performance of his American symphony which he had spent 30 years writing and never got to have it performed due to lack of time as a teacher. An amazing finale to a truly heart warming and inspiring movie.

  • I always get a lump in my throat when Gertrude Lang gives her speech.

"Look around you, there is not a life in this room that you have not touched, and each one of us is a better person because of you".

  • Thumbs up if you think 5 people are emotionless machines

  • "We are your symphony Mr. Holland" TT-TT

  • Couldn't the governor had signed some executive order granting them more funds for the school??

  • @MarcusWannerMusic that two and a half minute mark in their song would be the most epic Symphony/Orchestra-playing we could ever possibly hope to see!

  • @88mphsss Being a diehard rush fan, you just made my day.

  • They should have used Rush's "Xanadu" as his opus!

  • I was 8 years old when I first saw this on ABC in 1998, and I watched it with my mom. It was the very first movie I ever saw that made me cry out of emotion for the characters.

  • I can't watch this and not cry. This movie is so beautiful.

  • Hands down best ending to a movie ever. I still have the old VHS copy and this will forever be one of my most favorite movies!

  • i always nearly cry at this part. Its a really sad movie. :'(
