@BwanaDave I've seen many a warthog kill by leopards and usually they go to the chest on the larger ones, due to the tusks and the gerth in the neck of warthogs.

Don't know where you heard that - but I have seen a lot of warthog kills.. and the cats virtually always go for the neck.

I don't think so. This is a mature male leopard. Most likely, he grabbed her where he did in the struggle and was not going to loosen his hold to try and get her in the neck.

Why did the leopard kill by grabbing the warthog in its chest?
This was the mother, a big animal, fighting the leopard, trying to protect its semi-grown offspring. The leopard grabbed it as best it could and didn't
let go. Didn't try to dodge the front legs of the warthog long enough to grab
its throat.

Thanks for the comment.. in fact, a daytime kill such as this is pretty rare.
