What was already a very sad day (9-11 memories) just turned almost unbearably sad for me when I found this video of Laddie from several months before he died. I do not think I ever shared it, and it is both heartbreaking and in some way uplifting to remember his this week or so after the anniversary of his death. Good as Gold was just turning 4 and it would be several months later that he fractured his neck in a pasture accident and we had to let him go. He still amazes me with his beauty and uphill build, and he seems to be passing that on to his foals which are his "golden legacy". His daughter Gold and Pearls was not only a premium foal at her inspection at Hilltop Farm, but was also Reserve Champion Filly in the very place that he made his debut as a premium foal with an amazing 8.7 for movement!. I cannot even put into words how I feel right now...
I know it cannot compare to the loss that their loved ones feel to this day for their 9-11-01 family members and friends, however those of you that love your animals can understand just how hard something like this can be. Thank you for letting me share...I am so grateful that his frozen semen works so well, and that his babies seem to be stamped by him. This video is just a casual, playing around video.
