WHAT? The power can only target a creature? BUUUULLLLLLL. In 3.5, you can target anything with anything unless it's "charm person". Everything had an armor class, yo.

I don't think that's a valid reason. "Fireball" only lists creatures too, but if one of the players uses it in a library I expect the books to catch fire.
Saying that "Darkfire" doesn't give heat only light would have been a valid reason however.
