I too think of it as my favorite movie of all time - so very very lovely, tender, pure yet so many other complex emotions, moments frozen in time - wish there could have been another movie made by/with father and daughter

Oleg Menshikov is beyond talent. He reflects human characters in all his being during acting. He becomes the character and the context his life. All those that participated in this movie they did a great job.

I saw this when I studied Russian and it stayed with me when in 1997 I lived in St. Petersburg for the year. This movie first revealed to me the Russian soul and what that meant. Nikita Mikhailov is the greatest living director and a magnificent actor.
