  • I am on my second LCD from Sharp now and both of them had/have this problem. I read someplace that it was contaminated rollers or something at their factory.

  • umm can sumone tell me what banding is please i couldnt pick it up in this video at all..

  • I am having the same problem on a LC-42D62U

  • you never posted

  • i have the same tv and the same problem allbut only slightly ,, it took 6 months and a load of new cables / dvd player/filtered extension leads, new setellite box and after all that it was a manafactures fault with the tv and not my setup..combating interfearence helps this problem ,

  • I get banding through my HDMI but not through my component, strange.

  • I just got a Sharp Aquos LC-42D65U..I wonder if SHARP fixed the banding issues when they changed from the 64 to 65 model. Will post my findings tomorrow..

  • Upon further research, I learned the banding could be due to contaminated rollers on the conveyor systems used to move the screens during production at the "Kameyama I" factory in Japan. Sharp TVs produced more recently may not have this problem. I've seen at least one screen photo of an LC42D64U purchased in Feb. 08 that had no banding at all. Hopefully that's an indicator that Sharp's got a handle on this problem.

  • Sucks about the banding. I did my research but didn't learn about the issue until after it was too late to cancel my LC42D64U order. I've seen at least 1 vid with a 52" Sharp where it was bad enough to be noticeable during regular viewing. But realistically, no one watches a grey screen for entertainment. If this isn't evident under *normal* viewing conditions, I could live with it. Sharp needs better QC! Other than the banding, it's not a bad TV.
