Live Drum & Bass with heart. Joyful pop-n'-slap. Bassist Stanley Clarke (b.1951) and drummer Ronald Bruner, Jr. (b. 1982) revel in a interlocking, counter-punching rhythmic romp for a lucky lunch-time crowd in the 2nd Floor Jazz Store at J&R Music World, 23 Park Row, Manhattan, New York, NY.

Promoting his latest CD, "The Toys Of Men", made a powerful, playful duet of one the the album's cuts, "Bad Asses".

  • nothing wrong with a double pedal....drummers use both hands right?

It's the end result that matters...it either sounds good or it doesn't...the tools are meaningless...he makes it flow, doesn't overuse it and looks at it for what it is, just another limb hitting a drum.

drummers been playin' double bass techniques for over 50 years...get over it and open up your ears.

    it sounds f'n good.

  • Ron Bruner is can do whatever the fuck he wants!!

  • @Aidos8158 well..first of all.. thank you so much for putting this one out on You Tube..and able more people to experience the great joy of it.. and second.. can I be nr.2 than..who agrees with you .. ;) greets..Carmen.

  • Drummer is lighting fast with those rolls. Stanley is creative is so creative in the improv, just feds Ronald stuff to play off of.

  • @TheHawkster2012 Finally, someone who agrees with me :D

  • I see why Stanley is a true legend the best bass player alive period!!!!!

  • i love metal and also love jazz... sometimes the double kick pedal thing sounds absurd, the those bass drum rolls he's doing sound fantastic to these ears.

for some reason the very beginning of this reminded me of the night court theme... which now i have to hear again.

  • Stanley made the electric-bass-front-man thing a reality. That said, he's always had shallow or no pocket.

  • Everything about this is sick. Badass indeed. They're blasting off in a music store... anyone who was there hasn't, and will never, forget it.

  • @Kylebarker21 There's no way in hell he could be that fast with a single pedal, so why should it kill it for you? I mean, if he was using it to do something that is achievable with a single pedal, then fine. But in this case, it's impossible. So there's nothing wrong with it.

  • I don't get the fuss about double pedals. If it sounds good, why not? Just because it's not the norm, doesn't mean it's not right. I mean, if you didn't have a double pedal, how would you get that beautiful bass drum roll that Ronald gets? If it opens up more musical possibilities, it's a good thing. Music isn't about being technical or proving that you don't need a tool, it's about using those tools to make music sound good.
