Bert Trautmann, a German playing in England only a decade after the end of the Second World War.probably did more to mend relations between Britain and Germany than any politician.

Wow, almost a wonder that he stayed on his feet.
An interesting thing is that Trautmann, obviously a legend in England, is pretty unknown in Germany. Probably because he never played for the national team.
