  • I sailed from 1969 to 1973 on five of the ULS ships: James Norris 69 (before it became a self-unloader); Pointe Noir (coal burner) 70; Wheat King (capable of going to Halifax and Newfoundland 71; Canadian Leader 72; and finally Canadian Progress 73. I was deckhand first two years and then watchman for the rest. I was a summer relief student (going to Brock University in St. Catharines) and it was THE BEST JOB! I loved it!

  • The Windoc was bought by Upperlakes but has never sail under the ULS flag. She was going be converted into a barge but i didn't happen.

  • ULS has been sold to Algoma yesterday.

  • Back in the 80's I began shooting lakers on the Lake Ontaro & Lake Erie portions of the lakes.Mostly through the Welland Canal. The Canadian Enterprise was the very first ship I took a picture of when she was winter berthed in Torotno. The Montrealais was the 1st Laker I got too step a foot on and tour. Great memories from these photos, keep up the great work.I have a bunch of pics and vids back home in Canada I will bring out one day.
