We also process all humanitarian aid received from the United States and distribute it to those among the local population who need it most.

Do the national guards get to go to iraq too?

they go both places - Iraq and Afghanistan

I'm in this unit actually. Currently finishing my training up in AIT. Will be drilling with them in April.

My son just got home from Afghanistan this week !

No - I am retired USAF. My son is over there with the 27th in Kandahar. Last I heard from him they are leaving NLT 21st (of course always subject to change)

27th brigade is on the way back. i think delta co. came back already. big up to all the fighting 69th

Yes - They're coming home. Replacements have arrived from Illinois. Just the Change of Command and "happiness is Afghanistan in your rear view mirror" !

Hey jbryant13, I was with C 2/108 in Samarra, Iraq 2004 and I just want to say I am proud of you guys and relieved you got each other home safe.

I got out after Iraq then got back in, missed the Afghan deployment, then went 'Office Space' on the Army and quit. I got my younger brother into my company in Iraq when he came as a replacement and now he is a 2LT with B 2/108.

I say get out but if you choose to stay in please don't be a hero.

Thank you so much I've been wondering that for the longest cause my bday is coming up soon and all i want is for my mom to let me join the national guard but i didnt want to join if i was just gonna stay in the u.s. lol

i'm actually in that unit and i was there then and i was also over seas with theml. i was stuck in kubul, camp phoenix afghanistan.

jbraynt13 u in the service? cuz i know a couple of my buddies that are in the 27th bct? and i know a few that went on that deployment and some that didnt.
