Science Fiction with Weasel Words

Australopithecus sediba is a species of Australopithecus of the early Pleistocene, identified based on fossil remains dated to about 2 million years ago. The species is known from at least four partial skeletons discovered in the Malapa Fossil Site at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in South Africa, one a juvenile male (MH1, the holotype), an adult female (MH2), at least one other adult and an 18-month-old infant.[2][3] The MH1 and MH2 fossils were buried together, and have been dated to between 1.977 and 1.980 million years ago.[4][5]

  • @dannywizz "Macro has never been observed"

I have no idea why creationist say this time and time again. Googles "examples of speciation". And like magic 1000's of examples of macro evolution will show up in front of you.

Perhaps creationists expect everyone to be so willing to deny easily provable facts as they do.

  • @dannywizz

Evolution is an observed natural process. Nature does not care over whose God you chose to worship. To Love God, to have faith in God and to worship God is a choice, which Christ makes clear. By accepting Christ, it is only the beginning of your journey. The Bible teaches on how to be good stewards. However, Christ regularly exposed hypocrites and liars who claim to know Christ, but have none of the humility a walk in Christ requires.

PS I found Kivall's article available for free through Google Scholar. Here is the link:

    w w w (dot) eva (dot) mpg (dot) de/evolution/pdf/Kivell_et_al_2011.pdf.

It is always a good thing to condut a search on Google Scholar when looking for peer review publications.

Remember when you read something on AiG or ICR's website, always look for the source material first. Creationist groups are ultimately political think tanks and like PTTs they people assign to spin.

  • @Craigmw45 I have a copy. The paper documents on the rarity for hand bones belonging to the various hominds to be preserved and on the unique opportunity to study the hand found in South Africa. Much of the paper involved describing the various bones and comparing these bones with known Hominds and the development of tools. While the report notes that no tools were found in the SA cave, there are areas where tools were found and dated to the same period.

  • @lawilson200 I don't have an sub to Science so it's not an article I can access easily. But I do find it interesting, based on my reading, that A. sediba has all the features you could possibly want in a transitional fossil. But the only response from creationist is "well she could climb trees LALALALALA" It would be comical, if it weren't so sad.

  • @Craigmw45 As a general rule, I never rely on articles posted on creationist websites. Its much like trying to read the news by reading only Newsmax or Fox News. Instead, I always go directly to the articles that is being critiques. In this case you should read Kivell et al, Science 333 pg 1411-1417 (2011), since this is the actual paper. A team compares morphology of the bones found, with bones of other specimens and modern humans. Thomas picked out a few key words to spin on.

  • @lawilson200 How about the finger vs thumb relationship in terms of lenght. Short fingers in relation to a long thumb, is indicative of precision gripping. Yet the strong flexor apparatus indicates 'she' still retained an ability to climb trees.

Even more interesting is that we found pelvic and leg bones, which (clearly) show that 'she' was much more efficient walking upright then even 'lucy' was.

Don't think you can ask more transitional features tbh.

  • @NEGATIONofP

Only true born again believers those that put their trust in God, are obedient to his word and are steadfast to the end, will be saved. Informed Christians are mostly critical of organised religion and believe many Churches to be apostate.

  • @NEGATIONofP

I agree that institutionalised religion is often hypocritical. The Bible covers this subject very well. Jesus critisism of the Pharisees was an attack on institutionalised religion. The Bible speaks out against it and warns that Jesus will turn away these people, calling them workers of lawlessness and telling them he never knew them.

  • @Craigmw45 What is it that you would like to talk about?

Brian Thomas is one of two main writers for ICR. While he includes "M.S." in his name, he does not list the field his master's degree is in. However, it appears that Thomas' main duties at ICR is to devolop formal responses to news items, especially those which address evolutionary biology, paleontology, geology and cosmology.

Rarely does Thomas address the actual science report. Instead he focuses on popular news items.

  • @Meathead36 ... and a meathead is someone who IS simple minded!
