Everyone is familiar with heart attacks and strokes, but fewer people understand that the same conditions that can put a person at risk for a heart attack or stroke can also cause serious leg problems. In extreme cases, vascular disease in the legs can lead to amputation and tissue loss. But leg pain can also be an indication of vascular disease throughout the body. Vascular surgeon Dr. Tom Howard explains how the symptoms are often confused with muscle soreness or stiffness from exercise. He describes what warning signs and symptoms can be an indication of circulatory trouble in the legs and what treatment options are available. When it comes to prevention, a little exercise can go a long way.
