This video shows the moon IO transiting across the clouded surface of Jupiter. The lifeless moon makes its way across and casts a dark shadow on the surface below. Very surreal to watch. It took me countless hours to take and process this one.
It came out much better than I expected. The zooming was actually a mistake. I bumped my tripod and had to start over so I chose a different zoom. The tough part was transitioning between the two views. I used morph technology to do the transition. It worked out pretty well and I am really happy with the result.
I used a 130mm Tak Apochromat telescope (refractor) for this video but also have several others that I use from time to time. Each does something different. I used to have an 11 inch Nexstar telescope but it did not provide the sharpness or resolve that my refractor does.
This is beautiful! Great work.
