Boarding a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 at Las Vegas. Heading back to London Gatwick on "Ladybird".
While it was comfortable, it is worth noting that some of the fleet ("Virginia Plain" was the same on the outbound flight), appear to have the old style seating, unlike the Heathrow planes. Not that I was all that bothered either way because I just wanted legroom!!! I heard other passengers who have obviously used Virgin from Heathrow before, sounding shocked that the interior hadn't been updated yet. Admittedly I noticed that the seats looked very worn, the entertainment system was ancient and I think the surround of the TV on the back of my seat had even fallen off!!!
This video clip is for the benefit of anyone considering booking a Virgin flight from Gatwick. Hope it helps. The camera was dangling down from my neck as I was boarding and walking to the seats, hence it being a bit unsteady.
I just wish I was recording at the end of the flight when someone on the PA system announced, "Cabin crew, doors to manual and cross dress"...
November 2011.
Yes, the "Upper Class" was downstairs at the front of the plane. There were also a few more Premium Economy seats downstairs apparently.
