thx for the review, was very useful 4me

@marmad22 Hey, thanks again, never knew the Velleman existed, I'll really look into it. More info than I expected, highly appreciated!

The IR port might be just for display brightness. Does the display vary when you cover it with your thumb?

I like your review approach.
I had steered away from choosing Owon already but I must admit it doesn't seem as rough as I'd feared.
Awaiting Part 3 with interest.

Thank you for your review. I´m trying to decide witch manufacturer Rigol or Owon.

Hi! Great clear review, thanks! Which of the three oscilloscopes would you recommend for an absolute beginner, with no particular interest, just planning to learn electronics in depth? Thanks a lot!

@cd4600 - Of those three, I'd definitely recommend the Rigol for a beginner (the cheapest). You might also look at the Velleman PCSGU250 - a reasonable 2-channel USB scope (with a Arbitrary Waveform Generator built in) that comes with decent software (Bode plotter, etc) - and great service and support at the Velleman forum. I don't know where you're located in the world, but you can get the PCSGU250 for ~ € 160 in the EU. They are such a good buy that I might just get one for audio work alone.

@frac - No, whatever was meant to be there (whether IR for remote control or LDR, etc) hasn't been implemented (yet?). Behind it was unpopulated PCB.
