we need to say "God is enough, He is good." Not "God is enough and good because I have a good life and nice things."

You need to love God because you believe in Him, in good and bad, Not just in good times.

Thats what I got out of this. Great speech

The difficulty in hearing the message of this video, especially Piper's car accident example, is that it sounds masochistic. It's not that a Christian is asking for pain or suffering, but that God is such a sweet treasure. He is so satisfying, that if I must suffer in order to know Him better or have more of Him, if I must choose to have Him or an easy life, I would choose Him. The reason that saying He is enough in suffering glorifies Him is because it is an expression of His worth.

@Jedikep God took all of Job's possessions. All of his family, to show Satan that Job was a righteous man. Life isn't easy for believers. He's saying God gets glory when you are so satisfied with him that worldly loss is not made into a bad thing and blamed on him. He gets glory when you say "You are enough" The prosperity gospel is a method that missionaries are using where they tell third world countries that if they believe in God they will have worldly things. That is wrong

@samludden furthermore....when they are disappointed that God doesn't give them the riches and prosperity promised to them by some preacher they turn against Christ. Yet if they took the time to read the bible for themselves....the promise is eternal life....thats where rewards and riches will be. Not here on earth. i dont know how acquainted u are with scripture, Piper is spot on.

@samludden the point of this video is to say that just because ur a christian doesn't mean u wont suffer...we can use suffering to realize that God alone is a constant in life. everything else comes and goes but him. there are people out there who preach as Piper said, if u trust in Christ you'll become rich and prosperous....that is a lie. Jesus never said that....he said people will hate u for my name etc. This is an in house debate...it wont make sense to u if ur not a christian.

@yznof012795 It is so EASY to praise God in times of wealth and prosperity. It's EASY to say "God is great!" when life is going smoothly. Anybody can say that. But the mark of the true believer is the choice to continue to follow Him and trust in Him even when things get rough and particularly nasty--in the video, the instance where a very close family member dies. That's hard, VERY hard--but it reveals a trust and love for God that transcends this material world. Cars and money won't do it.

the son of God died on a cross and glorified Him...this world is hell for believers....through many tribulations we enter the kingdom, to love this life means you'll lose it. - Jesus. Even the most horrific events can bring glory to God.

Almost speechless...misguided garbage, one of the most telling denunciations of religion in its own right I think I've ever seen. Makes enough errors of logic to be a case study in a first year philosophy seminar.
