Rather than becoming title sponsor for one particular prize, BT Global Services, a leading global communications company, headquartered in the UK, has chosen to sponsor the X PRIZE Foundation so that we can develop several prizes worth more than $300 million in a wide range of fields, all of which will ultimately benefit humanity, rather than the bottom line. Since the X PRIZE Foundation is arguably the only organization generating multiple prizes at this level, BT has chosen to sponsor us as a means of accelerating innovation across a number of categories. Whereas traditional sponsorships result in billboards and advertising, BT's sponsorship of the X PRIZE Foundation will result in breakthroughs that go down in history. www.biggerthinking.com

I thought this was a bit of satire.
BT is one of the worst for customer services in the UK. They are also about 5 years behind in innovation compared to their competitors.
Well that's flunked the X-Prize in Europe.
