@joeybagh Well, I guess we can just agree to disagree. It wasn't just the crotch grab. I mean, yes, that WAS scary. BUT, it was also the idea that the "U" "really got a hold of me." The "U" wouldn't let him go. It relentlessly clung to him despite his many efforts to run away. Anyone who is even slightly claustrophobic wouldn't feel comfortable, and it can easily cause trauma for kids. I highly doubt Melissa Etheridge would compare to a floating letter "U", chasing you and clinging to you.

Props to Sesame Street for not making their new "U" skit scary like the old one. No child should ever have to watch the monstrosity that was Smokey Robinson being molested, and then carried away, by a giant foam letter "U". While that may seem a little dramatic to some of you, I can assure you that most of my cohort who were exposed to that horrible clip as a child will be haunted by it the rest of our lives.

My daughter was 6 when this came out. At that time, Sesame Street ran that same program in the morning and the afternoon so we recorded it on VHS. We wore that tape out! We knew all the words and sang that song all the time. Who ever wrote it is a genius and Melissa Etheridge is an awesome singer.

Damn, I haven't seen this one since I was four! My mom used to listen to a lot of Melissa Etheridge (or maybe she just came on the radio a lot, I don't remember) so I was already pretty familiar with the song.
