Flipper the cat gets new set of wheels !!

A high school robotics club designs contraption for Flipper, a paralyzed cat with a twisted spinal cord.
Once forced to crawl around on its belly, a cat born with a twisted spine can now run with the best of them thanks to the work of a Los Angeles high school robotics club. Flipper the cat's damaged spine has been a terrible problem for the kitty. While half of him tries to move in one direction, the other half tries to move the opposite way.

Flipper was days away from being put to sleep when vet Dr. Harry Gurney got help from students at Conifer High School.

'Our problem was the spinal cord was twisted much like a telephone cable is twisted, so that while half the body was going forward the other half of the body was going sideways,' .
The robotics club designed a 'Cat Cart' so Flipper could move more easily.

Finally, after several prototype ideas, they found a design suited to Flipper's problem.

The students built him a walker with wheels which both straightens his spine and allows him to strengthen his front legs.
As Flipper gets older, vets can hopefully repair communication to the cat's spine.
Upon being strapped into the cart Flipper immediately began running around the clinic.
