Katzcradul displays the variety of foods she has dehydrated from fruits to vegetables, herbs to meat. She shows her dehydrator and the Vidalia Chop Wizard, a great tool in preparing vegetables for dehydrating.

  • I absolutely LOVE your videos! Just found you recently through Bexar's channel. Quick question... how on Earth did you get "Prepper A" (just adore that name) to get so excited about dehydrating? I recently started dehydrating (have done mushrooms, bananas, apples, oranges, and eggs) and my teenage son, no matter what he tries, spits it out and refuses to try anything new! It's driving me nuts!

  • @lrdismysheprd49 I started EARLY! She's been eating this way since she was a toddler. Just FYI, I wouldn't eat home dehydrated eggs either! Have you tired dehydrated apples on him. That's a good one to start with.

  • katz, did i hear you correct it cost 7 cents a minute to run the dehydrater????

  • @NORTHWOODSPREPPER1 That is correct within a cent or two...depending on where you live. Most folks suppose it costs much more. Thanks for watching.

  • I recently vacuum packed ball jars with powdered milk and chocolate chips. I first used Tattler lids & rings which did turn out well at all. The few that did seal unsealed within 24 hours. I then sealed with ball lids and all but one sealed and when I re-sealed it with another ball lid it sealed fine. These lids were all new. Have you vacuum sealed with Tattlers before?

    Thanks

  • @snookumsjack No, I haven't, and don't plan on it. The seals on the conventional, metal lid, are much more supple and would seal better in my opinion. In fact, lids that have preiously been used in a heat, canning situation are even better for vacuum sealing than new lids, fresh out of the box. Thanks for the good question...and thanks for watching.

  • @katzcradul I've tried almost everything! He's picky, picky, picky! But I've already told him that when the SHFT, he can eat it or starve. LOL. He thinks he'll take his BB gun and eat squirrel for the rest of his life. Oh, to be young again! Thanks a bunch!

  • Glad I saw this..it inspired me to pull out my vidalia chopper and utilize a bunch of stuff that would have gone to waste in the fridge..Thanks! :)

  • @NORTHWOODSPREPPER1 Costs about... what ever your time and effort is worth to use Solar heat. Easy enough to build a good portable dehydrator that uses the suns natural UV rays to sterilize, and IR to dehydrate.

    Just saying

  • This video is packed with great info, thank you!

  • awsome you make your own raisins
