  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! good job

  • Thanks!

  • Probably my favourite song from "Volunteers." One or two glitches with your images, but way better than simply showing the album cover. Thanks for your trouble!

  • my pleasure!

  • everything seemed possible back then. I really thought we'd fix the world with love. So those times & people failed...we gave it a shot though, eh?

  • Brilliant upload !

  • This song continues to be satisfying after years of listening! Jorma's licks elevate the mood methodically while Paul's persistent "tumbling" rhythm makes me feel like I'm in a far-off pasture surrounded by sheep. I especially like 2:48-2:53 after Grace's ethereal bridge builds to a crescendo and then breaks as Paul and Jorma's melodic magic returns for the final verse. Thank you, for the pertinent Woodstock images that effectively complement this masterpiece.

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • @girlmusic2remember

    They didn't write it.

It is a traditional song called "Blood Stained Banders" and other similar names.

The "original" recording is on one of the Library of Congress "prison records" recorded by John and Alan Lomax and performed by a Virginia inmate named Jimmie Strothers.

Though blind, he shot his wife at home in Culpeper.

(All the online references say he killed her with an axe. Not true.)

There is more to the story if anyone is interested.

  • Ezekiel 34:31a; "You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God" vs.19a "Must my flock feed on what you have trampled and drink what you have muddied?" vs.21-25a; "you shove with flank and shoulder, butting all the weak sheep with your horns until you have driven them away, I will save my flock... I will place over them one shepherd... I the Lord will be their God... I will make a covenant of peace" Religion needs to keep our Loving God approachable & peaceful!

  • I CAN SING U ..."OH GOOD WORKING

  • if you want to get to heaven , dont follow the creed of greed , the haters , the propaganist , be ware of liars , and the blood stained bandits . get out the vote . dont give back what we worked so hard 4 .

  • @heyjudy1 Indeed you did.

  • I love this song. Who knew they could also write and record something so peaceful? Great!!

  • Gracie's cleavage at 3:20! Wow, she wasn't usually flaunting it like that.
