SENTINEL NEWS SERVICE
~Cornelius Swart
I just heard reports this afternoon that the Sentinel has recieved some kind of 'major award' from the Oregon Chapter of the Society for Professional Journalism. At the time that this video blog was made I was unware of what the award was for. We only heard that the Sentinel had won 3rd place for something. I was hoping we would edge out the St Johns Review for "the paper with the most articles written by old ladies and cats"...but I'm not sure that's an actual category. Turns out that we actually won third place for religious reporting, for a story by Rebecca Robinson (her second award in this category in two years) for her story about the indie rock church movement drawing huge crowds at the same time most area churches are struggling to keep their doors open.
Congratulations to Rebecca Robinson and to all the Sentinel team that supported her coverage. Next year, we should totally go for a People's Choice Award.
