  • Mine just buzzes on the 4th string

  • @MellowCruisin You can raise the string by putting a little piece of thin cardboard under the string, like take a shiny piece of magazine ad out and slip it under the string at the nut, then clip it off with fingernail clippers so you don't see it so much. Sometimes that'll fix a low string on the nut. You can do the same thing on the bridge, if need be, or raise the bridge height, if it's buzzing down the neck...

  • @MellowCruisin You can find out where it's buzzing by fretting down the neck. If you fret it and it buzzes it's below the point where you fretted it. Go down the neck till it dissappears, that's where it's touching the fret and that's the point where either the string has to be raised, or the fret lowered.. It's usually easier to raise the string.

  • Mongo, the banjo were designed by the devil himself to test our patience. If a person can deal with a banjo, he can deal with anything...:o)

  • Amen Brother..

  • My 3rd string puts me on edge every time. My instructor ordered a new bridge to deepen up the tones a little but it's taken forever. I'm stuck with a hideous pang every time I pluck it on an open. Was told to try putting a little super glue and once dry putting the strting back on it. Ever tried that?

  • By the way, you can cut a piece of credit card and put a few notches in it with a serrated kitchen knife and stand it up for a bridge till you get your new one... I made a video doing that a while back..

  • @HandsomeSasquatch Hey there, I put a Deering bridge on it. It was a thicker wood, maple or mahogany which certainly made it sound better. But the vibration was actually at the nut. We took the string off and opened the notch up a little. That solved it. Hope that helps!

  • @lcbaudar hey i have the same problem with my banjo that you did a year ago, how did the new bridge work out for you, was it taller, wider, or what?

  • rpeek, it looks like that banjo is ready for priority mail shipment. I hope you have my address right. :o)

  • I saw that, you are one crafty plucker! I adjusted the bridge a little, though with it being the middle string, I'm now sure how much more I can! I'll check out that mag trick.
