  • The disadvantage I see about using that Bridge is that it can't be double-tracked....But...I think you could have a double track off of the bridge itself, and that would work.

  • "Why does Gatineau, Ottawa, the NCC and Federal Government not get it? They would rather build new, expensive bridges and expressways that clog immediately."

They don't have visionaries, just people that bicker for years without getting anything done. They even spend taxpayers money on pet projects without consultation.

  • The O-train in Gatineau would get a lot of people to the casino rather than taking a taxi and shuttle bus from downtown Ottawa. I do have to agree with David Gladstone here, politicians, planners, and bureaucrats on both sides of the river are very stubborn, shortsighted and narrow-minded. They should see this as an opportunity to relieve congestion on the interprovincial bridges during rush hour, and connect to the each bus station instead of their NIMBY political beliefs

  • At least its better than building a new bridge on kettle island.

  • The bridge is apparently fine, and there's nothing about it that is preventing things from moving forward. I'm told that the STO (Gatineau transit) want to build their own Transitway, and don't want any talk of a rail link across the bridge to distract or get in the way. I hope that info is not correct, but if it is then shame on them!

  • Seems like such a simple solution to use an existing bridge where lots of commuters could use it instead of building a whole new bridge across the river.

  • Yesterday, after taking over 60 minutes by car to get from my home near SouthKeys to attend a training conference/session at the Hotel Lac Leamy Hilton, I realized that if this bridge was used I could have made this comfortable train trip in 20 to 30 minutes and even been productive on my BlackBerry on the way! Why does Gatineau, Ottawa, the NCC and Federal Government not get it? They would rather build new, expensive bridges and expressways that clog immediately.

  • What are the reason the bridge is not being used? Is not safe? Is it too old? Does it need more safety things on the bridge? What is wrong with the bridge?
