Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow Walkthrough - Part 14

I liked this part very much. Ahead of us are three optional trial rooms in which we have to defeat enemies and prove our skills to retrieve some sweet equipment. The first room has some Lubicants flying in the air which are quickly taken care of by the Claimh Solais. Also, we have to jump over several statues which will punch or kick us if we get in their way. At the end of the corridor, we have to hit an iron ball over and over so it eventually swings against a wall and opens a way for us so that we can collect the Balmung in the room behind it, which is a nice weapon, but the Claimh Solais is better. Room two is full of spikes, petrifying Medusa heads, conveyor belts and Erinys enemies. The goal is to hit a switch and kill or avoid the enemies to get to the other side and collect the Olrox' Suit, a very decent piece of armor although I prefer the Eversing. The Gargoyle soul (prevents petrification) makes this room a whole lot easier. The third and final room is full of Beam Skeletons which are easily defeated. Afterwards, you have to board a platform and perform certain button combinations on your controller to keep going. It's not all that hard so the end of the corridor is easily reached and we are awarded with the Rare Ring which makes item drops by enemies much more likely. After all these trials I heal up and head for the boss, the Giant Ba...what? Okay, screw the Giant Bat, some giant named Balore seems to dislike that beast and just squashes it and then attempts to do the same thing to us but is quickly defeated. We get Balore's soul and also the soul of the Giant Bat which allows us to fly! Sweet, flying is always a huge step forward in Metroidvania games. As we return from the Giant Bat soul room, we meet J again who suddenly has all his memories back and tells us that his real name is Julius Belmont (important last name if anyone knows about the Castlevania storyline). He also is responsible for Dracula's demise in 1999 and now he is going to look for his weapon to defeat Dracula again. Technically, that would mean seeking out Graham and killing him, but Julius seems to have something else on his mind. We wish him best of luck though and return to the save room where we call it a video.
