沖縄のジュゴン：The Okinawa Dugong, Save the Dugong Campaign Center (SDCC)

This is an animation that I made for a Japanese NGO, the Save the Dugong Campaign Center (SDCC) "http://www.sdcc.jp/", which I have been supporting for a while. This only explains fairy basic information about this weird creature, DUGONG and the surrounding situations.

The dugong is loosing its number because of the environmental destruction and some other issues. In addition to these issues, the Japanese government has been planing to construct the U.S army base at the offshore of Okinawa. This construction will destroy dugong's home in Japan. The Save the Dugong Campaign Center is against the construction from the environmental point of view.




I do not think the situation that the dugong or Okinawa is facing is known well even in Japan so I hope this animation helps more people to know about it.

There is no dugong in Japan when Henoko is destroyed. As for the U.S. military, I want you to protect nature because it is already good.

For the drunk driving rate, sofa status US military is apart of that statistic and the illegal alcohol limit is .03 in Okinawa and .08 in most US states. "Shittychina" is the worlds largest exporter. I think it's trivial to argue over such things. There is an endangered animals that deserves more attention, and maybe the source of the problem isn't the dugong maybe it's the bases, but either way arrogance wont find solutions

Since grade school are share a border with Mexico and still are not fluent. Aside from learning English the Japanses learn three separate alphabets, one purposely made to commuicate better with english speakers due to their inability to pick up on japanese characters and need to conduct business. next comment about the military saving "YOU" money. Not sure who the "you" is intended for. If it's intended for America, I don't see the relation when over half of tax income is spent on the United States military. If is was intended for an Okinawa, I still dont see the relation. Again the United Staes is not stationed on Okinawa for their benefit, however it does offer pros as well as cons. I think its humorous to make a comment about japanese speaking english when Americans are taught spanish

Same for the comment about hunting whales. Hunting serves its purpose until it causes harm to the ecosystem and two wrongs don't make a right anyway. I do believe the government (all governments at that) even with good intentions do use tax money on enviromentally destructive means at times. The purpose for military bases to be on Okinawa is protect China or Japan it's a very tactical postion for the United States military to be stationed and gained rights over the land during WW2

Not sure what grandfathers eating dugong has to do with anything. Eating animals is not against the law or immoral depending on the method used. If an animal is hunted to extinction then there is a problem, but to point out past eating practices doesn't seem to aid in a current solution unless it is currently done without regards for the animals

I've heard a lot of military men joined the army because they cannot afford living or good education by their families. Are you one of them? I remember Bush attended Beijing Olympic although he made a critical speech on Tibet issue. That proved his country is bankrupting and needs loans from Communist nation. China is good nation, keep good relationship with them just like our prime minister does.
