Temasek Junior College
Mrs Loke's farewell concert (2011)
Rimsky-Korsakov: The Flight the Bumblebee
arranged by Max Leth for two players and one marimba
played by Rex Chin (player one) and Poh Zi How (player two)
"The fast turbulent chromatic passages of the piece represent the many obstacles and challenges that have been faced by Temasek Junior College - no matter how big or small, faced by teachers or students. Several extended techniques have been employed in this piece such as the unidiomatic crossing-overs across the marimba, which represent the good teamwork by the Temasek Junior College community that resolved these difficulties quickly and efficiently. We believe that a large part of this teamwork is due to Mrs Loke's fine leadership skills.
We will never forget how Mrs Loke always emphasizes on the words "my team" in her various encouraging speeches, bringing forth such tremendous camaraderie and school spirit into the already vibrant and colourful TJ culture. We will always be thankful for having such a wonderful principal, and we hope to be able to express our gratitude through this performance."
p.s. thanks Hui Hai for the recording!
