This video highlights key experiences in my life that I think qualify me to considered for the Best Internship on Earth. In the summer of 2007, I hiked from NJ to ME on the Appalachian Trail. I took one semester off to be a full-time intern with Kilowatt Ours, a non-profit in Nashville, TN. There I worked in schools teaching 4th-12th graders about energy conservation, I helped with outreach for the national launch of their film Kilowatt Ours: A Plan to Re-Energize America, and I helped organize fund raising events. I am currently a student at Rutgers University where I study Human Ecology (Environmental Policy, Institutions and Behaviors) and Film. I am also a TA for an environmental podcasting class. I hope you enjoy watching my video. Wish me luck!!!! Thank you

  • Jersey Fresh (Rachel),

I loved watching your video for this internship position! It is cool to think that the dreams you shared with me while hiking the AT are finally coming true! What a gift it was to adventure with you both on the AT, and the following summer at Genesis and in New York. I can't think of a better person for this job.

    Miss you!

    Sonic (Casey)

  • You are a gift to earth and a hope for all of humanity! Should Sierra Club choose you for this internship, you will truly be an asset to the important work that they do. You have a special way of helping people to discover and realize that they are totally and deeply connected to the life community that is earth and every choice a person makes will either enhance or harm the quality of life on earth. Thank you for all the good work you have done and will continue to do. God bless!

    Love, Marmie

  • Excellent student. I am a graduate student in her department. She is very active!

  • I am the professor for the class Rachel TAs. She does all she says...and more. Rachel also aced my Environmental Communication class. More importantly, her work was used by Americorps' energy conservation program. Many years ago I was a director of an environmental advocacy group. None of the volunteers or interns had Rachel's combination of skills and maturity. She is even better than she says.

  • Great video. Rachel has a deep interest in nature, wildlife and the environment. She would be an excellent intern for the Sierra Club - I would highly recommend her for the position!

  • Im the chair of the Raritan Valley Sierra Club group. Last fall, we invited her to one of our general meetings to discuss the documentary Kilowatt Ours. Rachel was wonderful!! She was articulate, pleasant, and did a great job presenting to the audience. I give her my highest recommendation for this internship position.

  • More importantly, in order to accomplish goals one needs to be a great communicator and storyteller. If you can't effectively communicate your message, nothing else matters. I strongly believe Rachel's penchant for filmaking is demonstrative of not only her dedication, but also her ability to convey her message in a thought provoking manner. What more could you possibly want?

  • The Sierra Club is about people. You will be hard pressed to find a more personable, passionate person than Rachel who will tirelessly work to protect our environment. Who else would CLIMB ON TOP OF A WIND TURBINE, with a smile no less?
