I passionately love this game. I have done since a toddler. I used to play the sit down version over and over. :)

you can make speakers from tinfoil, a penny, a paper plate, and a bit of wiring

I have 2 solutions for your problem:
1. Replace the monitor with a cheap and common B/W monitor from a game like Asteroids.
2. Repair the Amplifone.

The chatter is a good sign, sounds like the attract mode is running. This chatter is from the Deflection board of the monitor, this is a good thing, its nto coing from your fan. The high voltage unit in your monitor is however bad.. and i see a red transformer, so thats no surpirse.
But what the hell happened to the cabinet? someone cut it in half!?

It seems that way, yes. I have the seat portion, as well as a pair of 2x4s which were involved in joining the parts together. Unfortunately, I don't have the roof, or the marquee graphics.
I'm probably going to order a replacement flyback and other missing parts from ArcadeShop soon. Definitely want to get this up and running.
