This is a reenactment of an Indian attack on a white settlement at Fort Dobbs, near Statesville, NC. In Part Two, the militia is called to the scene. They exchange fire with the Indians, killing one.
@merganserbay ....long story short: Mrs Martin wouldnt cease her grieving and the Seneca eventually beat her with a tree limb.....this account is VERY tame compared to others that I've read. And yes the whites did enlist in armies such as George Rogers Clark's and they did attack Shawnee villages in the fall so that the Indians would starve when their winter food stores were burned..& like the Indians they took ears noses fingers etc as souveniers. Both sides were brutally wrong. Thats all.
@merganserbay cont:..." the Indian with the child had not been seen since he fell behind this morning. I saw that Mrs Martin was somewhat uneasy. About sundown they halted for the night &, in the course of half an hour or so, the Indian came up without the child. As soon as Mrs Martin saw him without her child she noticed the scalp hanging from his belt. She commenced screaming & hallooing "my child! my child!" The Indian stepped up to her & bade her hush, but she paid no attention to him..
@merganserbay ....actually I quote as 1 that happens to be proud of my Indian ancestry and mostly from accounts of white captives who were adopted into tribes and in time, learned to love their new families despite what had been done to their white families. The point is you need not quote the plight of the red man. We all know that. But the fact is they WERE NOT nature worshipping hippies that were simply brutalized and then the story ends. I simply believe in telling the WHOLE story.
@ltadgers ...yes, & how Indians made necklaces of fingers, how they burnt the majority of their captives alive & fired gun powder charges into their genitals, How prior to about 1768 canabalism was rampant among some tribes, or how they would grab white babies by the ankles and bash them against trees and toss them into the nearest fire so as not to slow them down when pursued by white militia companys after attacking & burning white settlements. The point? BOTH sides were brutal. Study history
Funny, they dont mention how white settlers would cut out women's vagina's and make tobacco pouches out of them. Or even give an estimate on how many indians women were raped and murdered in front of their families when native villages were raided. Good video, very historical....

cont-Its funny to me how 9x out of 10...those that are often most passionate about history...know the least about it.
