if that gets water that can be house of mosquito that produce Denge disease, its better to fill it until the top with that sand

Wear leather gloves and use the sharpest knife you can. Dont try to cut through the sidewall in one pass. Its best to drag the knife around the sidewall 2 or 3 times to cut right through. You get a neater finish this way and dont risk snapping the blade on the craft knife.

is there an hazard or downside to using tires? do they leach chemicals? do i need to treat them at all?
seems like a great idea b/c it's a great Reuse of rubbage, i assume the black rubber tires absorb sun and keep the soil warm.. i have like over a dozen tires.. wondering what i can do with em
any ideas>?

Also wanted to add that we got our tyres free from the local tyre seller in Melbourne. He had to pay to dispose of them so was happy to give a few away...
The steel belting in tyres is only in the tread - not the sidewall. The best way to cut the sidewall out like the one in your video is with a sharp stanley knife and a squirt bottle of soapy water to lubricate the blade. I have just cut the sidewall out of about 10 tyres to put around my trees and this was by far the easies way.
