  • Phil is a great musician and a lovely person. I don't think you'll ever find a better human being on the planet! :-)

  • check out a feast of lambs with paul clark !

  • that is maybe the catchiest riff I have ever heard within the first 10 seconds of a song!

  • Thank you for posting!

  • @MrBrad1205 The live version of "Time" on "How the West was Won" is pretty awesome too. The original version is from his album "Love Broke Thru" (and also appeared on his best-of compilation "Time" as you said). For a while the "Love Broke Thru" album was available on CD in it's entirety together with his first solo album (also in it's entirety), "What A Day". Not sure if this CD is still available. Check Phil's website. If it's not there, ask. They may be able to hunt one down for you.

  • Wow I've haven't ever seen Phil live what neat guy, great chops and not to say anything about the 2nd guitar player would be an insult. They really work good together ! Oatman29

  • Phil just told me in March that he has only ever owned 2 Les Pauls in his life. A 1960 that is in a vault. (owned by someone else) and the 1 he has had since the early 70s. in March, he was using 2 Fender Deluxe reverb amps and the 71 LES PAUL. He did have some pedals, and a looper or two or three... The one thing about the amps - LOUD There were packing blankets covering them and 3 inch foam pads behind them to keep from killing John Sferra as he played drums.. AMAZING TONE!!!!

  • Man this is awesome... unfortunately one of the top guitarists in rock, but not as celebrated as some others. How does he get that tone out of what it seems to be a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp? Is that thing just cranked?
