Dude, i grew up with Robotech when it came on Cartoon Network in 1998. Same with the other anime you mentioned. Toonami used to be cool in the 90's now its shit.

I'm from the Sailormoon and Dragon Ball generation, but i love this kind of cartoons, more than much made today, someday i'm going to see this and others, i've cried with Robotech. Also i'm 23 years old.

@levitan71 Ahh, if only you knew. That was based on the classic 1981 movie "Heavy Metal". It was a flawed but nonetheless badass collection of stories by different animators in different styles, all revolving around one central concept. Though basically also an excuse for animated sex and violence set to an epic classic heavy metal soundtrack. Though good luck finding the one with the original soundtrack (most modern copies ran out of contract time and had to replace a lot of the music).
