I stayed here for 3 months in 1996 whilst working on the original construction of the brewery for SAB, including attending the Official Opening.

Just returned UK after first visit to Mwanza in 44 years. Much changed, yet much the same. Watu lovely. Place hot & muggy, roads chaotic, poor people, many different nations, commerce buzzing, yet unemployment huge. Bilharzia rampant in lake, due Nile-Perch eating snail-predators. Lake polluted with Mercury from illegal gold mining around shores. Thousands tons fish processed by the Mwanza factories, falling due stock depletion. What can be done? See video - paradise lost? Must DO something!
