If Steve Perry was still with Journey. The Band would have kept moving forward. Steve Perry has the same drive as Madonna. She has always kept moving forward. There would have not been anything 30 years ago about Journey.

Steve Perry's voice is not all he is treasured for ,his heart & soul ,his passion ,his emotional connection to the fans. A Journey concert wasn't something you just attended ,you were apart of something special and Neal,we would have waited and been there when everyone was ready!

Yes Schon makes it sound like he's been so lovey dovey with Steve. I read the GQ interview he did and he used the "f" word relating to Steve Perry - yes real nice guy.

There was a big scandal, referred to as an aside by Herbie Herbert, the former manager, in the 2007 or was it 2008 interview where they may have been caught in a lip syncing type of deal with Augeri faking a lot of his singing onstage. Allegedly outed by somebody in Europe, I think, then he quickly 'quit for health reasons'. Not me saying it, just trying to recall the Herbert interview which is available if you google it. Not saying Augeri couldn't sing well once-though not at Perry's level.

Read the GQ interview with Schon-he admitted that he has only been sober for a couple years & was an alcoholic all those years. H. Herbert, the former manager who formed Journey said Valory was taking drugs-in the 2001 Director's cut of VH1 documentary Valory admitted that he had had to declare bankruptcy in 1990. Never said they weren't sober NOW, but it had to have affected decisions/money THEN-& would increase resentment of Perry-check Billboard re: sales 1998-2008! Am not knocking Arnel!

seems the j boys are healthy enough to tour the world at 60 years old Not to shabby if they were so called drug addicts which is b.s. They must fo done something right healthwise, most 60 year olds have a hard time walking fast never mind playing in front of millions on a world tour. KUDOS ross deen jobn neil and arnel, YOU ARE JOURNEY Some of us have let go of the 80's and support new music from a great band. 2010 arnel will shine through and shut up the doubters.

Sorry, I'm a healthcare professional, and I know that it is a very individual decision, because it is serious surgery. Perry was only in his 40's. Joint replacement surgery doesn't last forever, and to face not only major surgery which can have complications, but also the prospect of having to do it all over again in 10 or 20 years is a huge decision. Re: the substance abuse-grownups make choices & accept the consequences of their actions-Perry was a rocker, too, but made wiser decisions in life

Never said that it hadn't sold-but believe it is selling just because of the old covers-if you look at all the TV spots-they aren't playing new music-they are playing the old hits. The tour is a nostalgia tour, which is why they are paired with Heart. Never denied Arnel's talent & I hope he can break through to all new music-because until they can sell an album of just NEW music, Journey is a tribute band-and Arnel is too talented to spend the next 20 years fronting for people's 1980's memories.
