I've tried researching this, but have come up with nothing so far; neither the brand of margarine, nor whether or not Jim Henson was involved in this commercial. So, I'm hoping some of you can help me figure this out.
For the record, this is a segment of a Negativland piece called: "The Perfect Cut".
Interesting find. I believe this is an early commercial for Nucoa Margarine. The rough voice definitely sounds like Jim Henson - though I'm pretty sure it's not Rowlf the Dog, but rather a Prospector character with a similar voice. Jim Henson used that voice on several characters back in the old days.
Hope this helps.

It certainly sounds like Jim Henson doing that voice. I'm sure you've listened to various Rowlf clips and heard the similarity. Sounds just like the voice of the King in the Henson production, "The Frog Prince."
