I like Near, even though many fans seemed to hate him. Sure he wasn't L, but wasn't that the point? Be kind of boring seeing someone who behaved exactly like L replace him.
Also, the fact that such a young genius is uncomfortable with booking and taking a flight alone humanizes him in my opinion.

I was rooting for Ryuzaki the whole way, and when he was killed, I was so upset!!! When Near stepped in, I was craving Near to avenge Ryuzaki, although all he wanted was to catch Kira, he did what I wanted, so I was like, "Oh Near! You cute little Bastard! Thank u!!!! X3"
