Lemmy's fortress, a Red Mushroom House, saving a toad, and 3-4's Alternate Exit. It looks odd because you usually have to look for the second one, but you'll see why.

This Fortress presents many Dry Bones to you. There is a few Pow Blocks, which could mean a 1-Up opportunity, but at what risk? Then cue the Iron Spikes Balls, and now were have some trouble. Lemmy himself does seem to do much more than throw star-patterned balls at you. You can even bounce off them.

I went to go save another Toad, running into a Ice Bro on the way. This is where the carrying Toad memorandum starts to get a little difficult. Jumping all over the place trying not to drop him into a pit. It only gets harder.

3-4 has many, many hollow squares all over the place. The level itself is no pushover, but you can't help but thinking "those have to mean SOMETHING". And that third Star Coin is a pain if you aren't fast enough to get around all those pillars. The Annotations quotes a reaction someone had to the end of the stage.

  • I just played the game normally. No really, I eventually maximize the stock through normal play. I guess I just play good enough to keep going up.

  • @Saestrol ummmm i have that game and if i safe a toad it does not matter what the timer is on its just when you clear it you get the house on the "→"!!

  • This was also on New Super Mario Bros DS. Depending on what the ending digit was stopped on, it would determine which Mushroom House would appear on the space.

    0-3 - Green

    4-6 - Red

    7-9 - Yellow

  • Actually, most of the walls with hidden things, at least in castles and fortresses, are rather hinted at IMO. Whenever you see walls of a different color that don't look like borders of a normal wall, they're hiding something. The biggest Guide Dang It in this game, IMO, is the hidden exit in 7-Fortress, because there's nothing suspicious about that particular wall. The hidden exit in NSMBDS's 1-Tower is an even bigger Guide Dang It, though. >.>

  • They gotta sell the guides. To make impossible things everywhere is how that sells. I like the ultra pass-through walls.
