HO Scale Trains at the 2009 Iowa State Fair

Here's some video I shot of the Central Iowa Railroad Club's HO scale train layout at the 2009 Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Iowa. The CIRC club members let me take pictures inside the layout where they operate the trains, and I got quite a few good shots. Their layout is VERY big, perhaps the largest HO scale layout I've ever seen. It is quite impressive! This video features all of the trains that were operating when I went through the building, two of the most notable trains being Amtrak's California Zephyr (as it was in the 1990's) and a mixed freight train led by the BNSF "Barfbonnet" SD70MAC. OK, I was able to track this down. They are the "Merger" scheme paint jobs which I understand only something like 300 were ever made? Can't confirm that but, I just located two of these on eBay & snatched up both of them. They are both NIB and I picked them both up for less than $200 for the both if you can believe that??? LOL.

@walkerbelle I believe that the white scheme is some sort of Presidential package. I'm trying to look it up myself, can't really find it yet. If I can, and remember, I'll let ya know

I remember seeing that layout way back in 2004, I litteraly spent 3 hours standing along there watching the trains run on it.

Heh- you'd said, when I posted footage of the equipment test for that Zephyr train, that it needed to run at this year's fair, and as you can see, it did! I've just got my video of it up on YouTube. The last day I was there added more cars for a combined CZ/Desert Wind consist- some footage of that is included near the end.
