Yeah. The air near the plane is moving sideways as well as back (from the plane's point of view). So, it's moving faster than the air a few meters farther away from the plane. Because of this, you can get a local shock near the plane while the plane is still (barely) sub-sonic. So, under the right circumstances, you could get the characteristic shock condensation while still at Mach 0.9 or 0.95 or so.
I love how the guy is screaming "YEAHHHHH" and all of sudden you cant hear him anymore.
ASL7000N or anyone else know if in fact Edwards AFB has a perrmit for sonic booms? I'm dying to see one in person and I don't have a problem traveling to Cali from NYC.
3 fails here
1. he is sub-sonic
2. that condensation is not a direct factor of supersonic flight
3. thats a navy plane not air force

Trans-sonic. Basiclly at the threshold of super-sonic. But he did not break supersonic in this fly by.

Yeah, close. I think the FAA dosn't permit that in those regions. But i heard at Edwards Air Force Base has a permit for that.

Not supersonic, but very close. Probably Mach .9
